In response to the cyclical nature of the episodes of water shortages, EMATSA has developed a series of measures over the years to maximize the use of available resources, to get new ones and to encourage responsible consumption. These measures are carried out in order to avoid situations of limited water supply.
How do we maximize the use of resources in EMATSA?
In recent years, major EMATSA measures aimed at minimising water losses are as follows:
- The reduction of leakage in the water network thanks to the continuous campaign of searching and renovation of facilities.
- The sectorisation of the grid, or the division thereof into smaller management areas to better target leakage reduction campaigns. This measure has led to a considerable increase in network performance.
- Measures taken to preserve aquifers avoiding their overexploitation.
